Wet dash back to question fuck yes am bricky to trade don’t have the wet dash down to a t yet wouldn’t be as accurate as your self most definitely. lol. Tried a small area 3:1:1 quarry/grano dust : sand : cement. Didn’t go as planned. I think with a semi dry mix the small stones in the dust made it harder to pull the straight edge accross the surface and leave a nice smooth finish. Ended up having at add a lot more water and change to a more concrete type mix to finish off. Got 30sq/m left to do, so going to switch to 4:1 sharp sand : cement as per your vids.

      Thanks for your reply 🙏 It's outside...

    • @macplastering
      @macplastering 10 днів тому

      so your near 2 inch's it is a deep one to fill for sure but can be done no doubt

    • @macplastering
      @macplastering 10 днів тому

      so the areas that are deep you might want to scud them let that set a day then scratch it out say 3 to 1 then let that set a day then go agin scratch out 3and half to 1 then next day fill all flush and finish with 4 to 1 just might take a longer time than you wished but can be rendered in multiple coats all mixes and methods a can be found on this channel mate

      Thank you so much. I thought you can't do more than two coats. If it's ok to do multiple coats getting progressively weaker then that's what I'll do. I did look through your channel and watched a few but didn't find one on deep holes... must have missed it. Love your channel and really appreciate your response. 👍🤗

    This has eased my smoothness anxiety😂 As a diyer, I’d have been panicking at the slightest hole / imperfection

      Its not to bad on the undercoats as long as there is no massive holes hollows or bumps as the next coats are around 3mm

    Thank you for these videos! We don't build like this in the U.S. Even if they use cinder block (my husband calls it Hollywood block?), it is only the exterior walls, and the interior walls are stick construction. This looks like it will last much, much longer.

      @macplastering 15 днів тому

      @danac1240 Yes, these builds should last a good amount of time, but like all will need matanice, we have a very wet climate here in Ireland... but hopefully, we will have this house as mantanice free as possible

    Another Great video! Can I ask when you batoned for your reveals where they flush with the face of the wall? Also, how far did you set your baton past your floated reveal when dashing? Thanks Mac!

    • @macplastering
      @macplastering 16 днів тому

      so if using 12mm stones you would need at least 5 mm coat to receive them on rule of thumb what ever the thickness of stone you would need half that in a coat to make sure they stick, so the rule / batton will be flush to the reveal but on the side getting stoned will be set out to receive the dash I do think this one was a little more than usual as trying to patch in to make it look nice and flush

    Do we have to wait for the first layer to dry or can we move on to the second immediately?

    • @macplastering
      @macplastering 18 днів тому

      I wait until 1st coat has set sometimes uts ok to put a little more on same day if it is drying real fast. Most times I leave it a full day
